Some days you wake up and immediately just want to go back to sleep. But that’s not always realistic, so you get up and that drowsy feeling stays with you throughout the day. You feel like a zombie going through the motions. I get it. I’ve been there. But the question is how do you get rid of this feeling and wake up more refreshed? Here are some tips to help you start your day off right.

🌜Start at Night

The best way to make yourself feel better in the morning is to make sure you are ready for bed. You must have a night routine that lets your body know that it’s time to sleep.

Some of my favorite ways include:

  • Essential oils! Relaxing scents can help calm your brain down and make it easier to wind down. Here’s a great one: https://a.co/d/7S9Dg1w
  • Melatonin (make sure to proceed with caution and consult your doctor if necessary when taking any sleep-inducing supplements)
  • Unwind with an activity that signals bedtimeyou can watch a specific show that you only watch at night, read, journal, or anything else that may help you feel ready for bed.

🎧 Listen to an upbeat playlist!

I know this can sound crazy, but trust me, a good hype playlist helps me wake up and feel much more energized first thing in the morning. It will hype up your day and give you something to groove to in the morning. It honestly makes me feel much better than relaxing music, which tends to put me back to sleep

🧘🏽‍♀️Stretch!

Sometimes, your mind is not the only thing that is tired. It can just be your body that feels extra relaxed. To help your body adjust, try stretching in the morning or do some yoga that will help get your blood flowing

❄️Ice

So maybe your mind and body are awake, but your eyes just physically cannot
stay open. Try taking some ice and running it over your eyes and face. This extreme cold may be uncomfortable, but it can truly jolt you awake. 

🫖Replenish

Even if breakfast isn’t your thing, having a little something can give you so much
energy for the day. It doesn’t have to be much, but it can be something small like a granola bar or banana. A little treat can also give you something to look forward to and make you excited for the morning. 

⏰Try Switching up your Routine

So maybe you like getting coffee and food in your pjs, but sometimes this can prolong your sleepy state. If this sounds like you, maybe change up your routine and try getting ready for the day before going about your business. This can make you feel more put together and ready to do you work sooner.

🚿When in doubt: Shower

This leads back to my last point, but if you absolutely cannot wake up, hop in the shower. Dousing yourself in the water always seems to do the trick and if you have the time, go try it! Mornings are the start to your day, they should start out with a bang.

I hope these tips help you in achieving that! We all hate feeling tired throughout the day, so try some of these things out and go seize the day!
